Say hello to Jules

Hello, I’m Jules! I handle the Communications for the Club.

I joined the Rouleurs in August 2025 after moving back to York following 22 years in Australia. I was looking for an inclusive, fun and friendly cycling club, and after finding the Rouleurs online I decided to give one of the Sunday rides a go. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for – and more! I’ve made some great cycling buddies and definitely had plenty of laughs along the way.

I’ve been cycling for around 16 years, and my first Rouleurs ride was certainly memorable. There were hills, tractors, bendy roads, country air – the works! As I was so new to York, I had absolutely no idea where we were going, but we had a knowledgeable ride leader who showed us the way and was happy to answer all my questions. I do remember the coffee stop particularly well, as the café had a Hookey Ring Toss game!

For me, the best bits of Rouleurs rides are the chats and laughs along the way, as well as getting to explore Yorkshire on two wheels. There’s something great about discovering new places by bike, especially when you’re doing it with a friendly bunch of people.

I’ve had plenty of cycling highlights over the years, but one of my favourites was riding 3,000km from Port Macquarie in New South Wales to Adelaide in South Australia in 2018 to watch the Tour Down Under. The sense of adventure and freedom was amazing, and it’s definitely an experience I’ll never forget.

I moved back to York in 2025, where my sister and her family live, and joining the Rouleurs has been a brilliant way to get to know the city and the surrounding countryside – and to meet some fantastic people along the way.

If you’re thinking about joining the Rouleurs, my advice is simple: come and try a Sunday ride. You’ll soon feel part of the team!
